Yes, abused pups are usually more challenging to train. They need so much love and patience. It's so sad that your dog was abused. I hope that she continues to improve as she continues to get comfortable and realize she is safe now.

I agree it really depends on their background. This is why it is important to check on the background of the dog you want to adopt because it may be helpful or not for you in the long run

I found that mine was very distracted during being trained. She was very conscious of everything around her and would get skittish with loud sounds etc. So I always felt like it was difficult to grasp her full attention. I needed to make sure that she was in an environment that she was very familiar with and felt safe in!
