Tear stains on white dog
Our 17 month old male Chinese Crested looks mangy in between groomer appointments. They don't "shave" his short spiky hairs but once a month and he has allergies (I think from not being groomed enough). What is too often grooming? How long do you keep the hair on his crown & down along the face? Do you shave the "cheeks"... We've had 2 groomers turn us down because they've never groomed a hairless Chinese crested & the current one just gave him a "bowl" cut! Help! Sometimes those stains are an indication of a problem with food, water, and possibly even a medical issues. Whether it is or isn't related to a problem, regular gentle cleansing of the area will help. I would be nervous about using any of the DIY mixtures with peroxide, boric acid, or vinegar around the eye area. They might be perfectly safe but the eye is so delicate it just worries me! There are two products that are good for frequent eye area cleaning: Opti-Clear and Bio True. Coconut oil is also a safe choice. But it may take several days of repeating cleaning to remove the stains.

Mine gets this too.. and also around her mouth her fur goes a pink colour
