Signs of a healthy weight
Hi! We made our French Bulldog go on a diet because he really eats too much and is always looking for food especially when it isn't eating time. It's been around 1 month and a half since he went on a diet. Does anyone know what are the signs of a healthy weight in my dog, and how can I maintain it? I would appreciate it a lot thank you!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences regarding weight management for dogs. It's true that individual dogs can vary in size and weight, and it's important to consider their unique needs and body composition. Your approach of portion control, mindful treat-giving, and regular exercise demonstrates a responsible and proactive approach to maintaining a healthy weight for your Rottweiler. :)

Weight charts are a good guideline but It really depends on the individual dog. Some dogs are smaller or larger than the average dog from their breed so their weight may not be in the same range. I know that their tummy area / waist should be higher than their chest / ribcage and you should be able to see their ribs somewhat. The Rottweiler I had was very food-focused and would eat anything at any opportunity. We stuck to strict portion control and mealtimes, were cautious with treats, and allowed ample exercise to ensure she stayed at a healthy weight.
