Separation Anxiety from Shih Tzu
Hi guys! So my Shih Tzu named Lola has separation anxiety with the people in our household and she always hides under our sofa when we leave the house and when we come back she is still in the same place and hasn't moved. We thought this would stop when she is with our other dogs but she still does this when they are around. Does anyone also have the same issue? If so, what are your suggestions for handling this?

Oh bless her. I'd suggest going back to basics to be honest and building back up to leaving her alone. Sounds to me like she needs to rebuild her confidence and is incredibly anxious left alone

I haven't experienced the same issue but I've heard of people leaving clothing that has their scent on it with their dogs to help ease the anxiety. Maybe worth a try?

We haven't experienced it much, but sometimes when we were going out for long I'd leave her a treasure hunt with her favorite treats so while she was looking for them we'd leave and she could continue doing that for a while. Alternatively, you could put treats in a dish towel and fold it up tightly which used to also take her a good hour to get through
