Separation anxiety
We will be getting a new puppy. As I work from home, I'm nervous about it becoming too attached to me which could later result in problems like separation anxiety. How do I create boundaries where the dog still feels loved and safe without it becoming too dependent on my presence? ( I'd want to be able to pop out to the shops once it's older without it being a stressful occasion for her to be left alone)

Hi! When introducing a new puppy while working from home, it's important to establish a routine that includes designated alone time for the puppy. Gradually increase the periods of separation, starting with short intervals, and provide engaging toys or treats to keep the puppy occupied. Additionally, encourage independence by creating a comfortable and safe space for the puppy, such as a crate or designated area, where they can feel secure when left alone :)

I'm thinking a barrier between you and the puppy may help acclimate the pup. I too work from home and I use a baby gate to keep my dog out of the room that I work in. She can't see me or interact with me while I'm working. I leave her out of the kennel while I'm working and she has toys available that she can play with.
