Leash Training
Hi Everyone! I have a fairly large yard so my Husky can safely run and play on a regular basis. I do still like to take her on walks so she can see other people and animals. While we have made some improvements with walking on the leash, she is still very difficult on walks at times. She pulls very hard, especially when she gets excited. I have had two injuries on two separate occasions due to her sudden and forceful pulling. I have worked extra with her in the fenced in yard but she doesn't pull while we are in the yard. What has worked for you?

Update: I tried the front clip no-pull harness again. I selected one of the top brands with the most and best reviews. She still pulls. Ugh....

We used a front clip harness as they seem to have less power to pull when wearing those. And then we used lots of treats. At first we would reward everytime she was not pulling, then slowly worked it back to treating when glancing / checking in with me... it took a few sessions but she got better each time and walks really nicely by my side now :) I struggle with my other dog though as he's not food motivated on walks, perhaps I need to try a toy or something

That's the problem I have with mine too. On walks or when something else exciting is happening, she doesn't care about treats. I used a harness on her when she was smaller, after my 1st injury and she pulled just like she was pulling a sled through the snow. Maybe I'll try the harness again now that she's older and see if that works. Thank you for the input.
