Learning to swim
My dog had gone 4 years never touching the water. One day we decided to get her more comfortable with swimming. This started with running onto the first step of the swimming pool wearing her leash, and each time she got more comfortable we went a step deeper. One day we went swimming in a dam and I think she thought we were leaving her behind because she ended up swimming to the other side with us ( with a very unnatural clutching the water for her life-type style. She then went on to love water and took every opportunity to go swimming
How did you get your dogs comfortable with swimming?

Ours was really afraid of water (not surprising, he's scared of his own shadow!!) and wouldn't go through puddles or anything. We were walking him down a glen one day with my mum's dog who absolutely loves water and he was chasing after him and ran through a huge puddle without thinking. Something just changed in him and he loves water now... it's actually a bit annoying because he will jump in puddles any chance he gets so always comes back caked in mud ha
