Introducing your dogs to a new baby

How have you introduced your dog to Your new baby? Is there a good way to train them to be gentle?

Joseph Solano

Introducing a dog to a new baby requires careful supervision and gradual introduction. Start by allowing the dog to sniff and observe the baby from a distance while providing positive reinforcement. As the dog becomes more comfortable, gradually bring them closer while rewarding calm and gentle behavior. Always prioritize safety and seek guidance from professionals if needed to ensure a smooth and positive transition for both the dog and the baby.

Before the baby comes home from the hospital, you could bring an item of clothing/blanket home for the dog to smell. On the day of introduction, make sure to greet the dog first just to get all of the excitement out of the way. Then, in a calm environment, you could allow your dog to meet your baby. Make sure to still incorporate your dog's favorite activities to ensure he doesn't feel excluded now that the baby is here. Going for walks together and still playing even though the baby is around will put your dog at ease with the new family adjustment
