Hi guys! My parents are both retiring soon and I wanted to hear your thoughts on them getting a new dog once they are retired. Is it a wise idea? Any breed recommendations?

I think that if it works with the lifestyle they are planning, absolutely! The breed would depend on what they plan to do with their time. I would definitely think a small or medium sized dog would be better managed than a large breed. Other considerations: Do they need a dog that travels well? How much training do they want to do? Do they want an active dog that needs exercise? Or would they want a lap dog that is content with lazy days? Do they want a dog that requires regular grooming? Or would they want a lower maintenance dog? It'll be easier to narrow down once the preferences are known.
